BUILDING UP OUR COMMUNITY
The Y Community Development Corporation (YCDC) has been serving York City for over 25 years as the YMCA of the Roses’ community development arm.
YCDC’s work complements the YMCA’s charitable programs, which include the Residence for Homeless Men, a New American Welcome for immigrant integration, wellness facilities, childcare, youth sports, youth center, aquatics, day camp, and family activities, by building up the neighborhood surrounding the York Branch YMCA in York City.
Please take a moment to explore the impact YCDC has on local residents!
YCDC has been giving individuals and families with low-incomes affordable and high quality housing by purchasing and revitalizing blighted and run-down properties in York City.
Currently, we have a mix of single, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units available for rent throughout the city so please call our offices today at 717-854-7291 to ask about vacancies and income qualifications!
Downtown York City is a safer place thanks to YCDC. New streetlights and security cameras installed by YCDC can be found throughout York City and have been instrumental in cracking down on crime and improving the walkability of the neighborhood.
YCDC plans to continue expanding this work into additional neighborhoods so that everyone in York City can walk around the community and go to bed at night knowing they and their loved ones are safe.
YCDC not only lifts up the properties in the neighborhood, but also works with residents so that they can live their best lives possible.
In collaboration with YMCA programs and other community partners, YCDC organizes supportive services for tenants, neighborhood cleaning projects, and ongoing streetsweeping efforts to keep everyone in the community healthy and happy.
In partnership with the YMCA of the Roses, DCNR, and other generous donors, YCDC removed a blighted warehouse next to the York Branch YMCA and built an Urban Park, which is open to the public.
Now, thousands of children from both local homes and YMCA programs come to the park every year to play and grow.
The Penn Street Project
Recently, YCDC completed a study to explore revitalizing the Penn Street corridor alongside Montez Parker and Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects.
YCDC relies on the generous support of the below contributors to help our friends and neighbors. Thank you to everyone who makes this work possible!
